Twilight Discovery [Image Cache]

Jack Loftus — Yesterday, ISS denizen Paolo Nespoli snapped this photo of the space shuttle Discovery on approach to the station.
Notice the shadow? The shuttles aren't usually cast in shadow, given their high orbit, but in this rare instance everything lined up and the ISS managed to block out a bit of the Sun. Seemed like kind of a fitting photo for Discovery, which is docked with the ISS for the last time.
Cast in shadow; twilight of its career—that sort of thing.
Fun fact: Nespoli
